My Favorite Techy Things

I feel like Oprah talking about my favorite technology things. Except I'm not a millionaire so everyone who reads this isn't going to be surprised with a Nook in the mail. Sorry, I'm just a poor college student.

So what are my favorite pieces of technology, and how do I use them? First off, I should start by saying that I'm not overly technology savvy. I tend to like to live in the past, and am really into living history, so sometimes modern pieces of technology are a little bit over my head. That being said I do have a few favorite things.

1. My Iphone. I am seriously in love with my iPhone. I don't think one single piece of technology has ever changed the way I do things so much. I can watch Netflix, Facetime my entire family (not always the greatest when at college), research anything, listen to music and on top of that I can make calls too! I love how easy it is to use. My even less techy mom can also use her iPhone with very little help and she feels all cool because she has an iPhone. It's rather cute actually. This is hands down my favorite piece of technology by far.

2. My Barnes and Noble Nook. I was a bit reluctant to get an e-reader because I really do love the feeling of a paper book, but with an absolutely adorable Kate Spade brand cover, this was solved. Having all my books for both work (I'm a park ranger and that requires constant research) and pleasure on one device I'm able to switch back and forth without having to lug a bunch of books around. Plus moving into my apartment, being able to have my books all in one place was fantastic and very space efficient. I love it!

3. Pinterest. This is a website is a virtual bulletin board that can categorize so many things you like. Many weddings, baby showers, classroom plans, birthday parties, etc. can easily be pinned on pinterest. It's probably my favorite place on the internet. I personally use Pinterest as a way to connect with my man-friend (we have a shared board) and with my friends and sorority sisters. It's been a really great tool to keep up with people when we are separated by distance.

4. The Chive. The Chive is another website. They post multiple photo galleries throughout the day (many not family appropriate) that contain funny pictures of animals and people, and it being a male dominated website, girls. They have an obsession with Bill Murray and a slogan, KCCO (Keep Calm and Chive On) which can be seen on many t-shirts. Chivers, or followers of the Chive have been known to do awesome things when they see another one in public, like leaving enormous tips or buying them their meals, paying parking fees, etc. The Berry, is a Chive affiliate that is basically The Chive for women. It is just as great of a site and posts galleries about cooking, celebrities, funny animals, and of course men. KCCO!

5. Blogger. I absolutely love Blogger. I have multiple blogs and Blogger has provided me with a mobile outlet for my somewhat jumbled thoughts. My main blog has also been a way for me to inform some of my far away relatives updated on the major goings on in my life.

I hope you have enjoyed my top 5 favorite technology things. Don't forget to KCCO!

Welcome!

This is my ED 270 blog! So yeah, the not overly techy girl will be getting to blog for a class about technology. Oh boy! Beware! I'm super excited to get to blog for credit since I have a tendency to spend so many Saturdays avoiding homework by blogging (enter freshmen year of college). I'm hoping to learn enough so that I can finally change the background on my first blog, Helen's Heart which is stuck on this awful ugly background due to a messy breakup and my lack of knowledge of HTML. Anyway, I'm super excited to share my thoughts on this class with the world!
